In Sydney, you’ll find us at King Street Wharf and the historic Rocks precinct, and in Melbourne on the banks of the Yarra River, where our chefs prepare a stunning array of dishes to delight the most discerning of palates.

The Kobe Jones philosophy

At Kobe Jones, we live by the philosophy that food should always be of a high quality, simple to eat and shared amongst family and friends.

Our menu is designed to bring the simplicity and beauty of Japanese cooking, and fuse it with the distinctions and surprising flavours of the west. Our chefs have worked hard to create an array of flavours suited to every palate, from the first timer through to the most adventurous diner.

We are often asked where our name comes from and the answer is simple. Kobe is the name of an ancient fishing village in Japan and Kobe beef is famous worldwide, so Kobe was selected to exemplify the finest of the Japanese food ethic, characterised by freshness and quality. Jones, being a typical western name, was chosen to represent the western influence and flavours apparent in our dishes. The simple combination of the two led us to the name Kobe Jones.

At Kobe Jones we encourage the concept of ‘graze dining’, which means that dishes are served to be shared, usually by 3 people. Our extensive menu is designed to ease you through the dining experience, with suggested and set menus making it easier to choose a selection that balances textures and flavours.

For à la carte diners, our experienced staff can assist you in ordering the perfect combination of dishes. We also offer a wide range of options for intimate dining, family groups, office celebrations and large functions by appointment. With stunning locations in Sydney and Melbourne, complemented by outstanding food and exceptional service, Kobe Jones restaurants are an ideal dining choice for modern Japanese cuisine with a Californian twist.
